Parking and Transportation

Parking or transportation to the University is the responsibility of MELP faculty and staff individually (MELP does not provide parking, etc.).  The University Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) is a great resource for more information on getting to the University via car, bus, bike, train, or foot.

Accessible Parking

The University provides designated disability parking spaces throughout campus. A state-issued disability certificate or license plate is required. This permit can be obtained with the approval of your physician. Information on the state permit is available from Minnesota Driver and Vehicle Services. Campus parking facilities require standard payment of the lot fee. On-street disability parking spots provide free parking for three hours with the state permit. Look for the identifying signage for these spots.

Parking Assistance on the University Campus

The PTS provides the Motorist Assistance Program (MAP), staffed by specially trained in-house employees, to anyone who parks a vehicle on University grounds, be it at a parking meter, on a surface lot, or in a parking garage. MAP is available to all legally parked, on-campus patrons Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Call 612-626-PARK (7275). Typical assistance includes changing flat tires, jumping dead batteries, and extracting keys locked in cars.
