Procedures for Making Teaching Assignments
The MELP Program Director is responsible for making and communicating teaching assignments to instructors prior to each semester or summer term.
- Director sends out MELP Teaching Interest Survey to all full-time Lecturers, prospective Adjunct Lecturers, and prospective Graduate Teaching Assistants.
- Director assigns courses to full-time Lecturers first to ensure contractual compliance, followed by Adjunct Lecturers and Graduate Teaching Assistants.
- Courses are assigned based on seniority, experience, availability, and preferences expressed in the Teaching Interest Survey. The Director makes efforts to balance the assignments so that each level of the IEP includes a variety of full-time Lecturers, Adjunct Lecturers, and Graduate Teaching Assistants.
